I'd like to thank
John. After attending a couple of RITES OF PASSAGE camps, he offered
todesign this site. This I am grateful for.
Hi,
IÕm John, I want to
introduce you to AMRITA HOBBS. She founded Harmony Holidays in 1986
and has worked with hundreds, maybe thousands of young people before
and since then.
I have designed this
site to tell you about what this special, amazing, out of this world
woman does and to raise community awareness as well as to gather
financial support for her much needed work.
Amrita works with
young people to make their lives easier. She encourages them to
talk and open up, and to come into themselves.
I have worked with
Amrita on several occasions. She is an amazing person, she always
helps me when I am feeling down and encourages me to be myself.
I think that her work is of great value to the community as a whole
and we should do everything we can to support her.

on what Amrita does, follow the link to the left.
WE
ARE THE WORLD
As
a young person there is always other threats that seem much greater
than growing up itself. Nuclear war, poverty, crime, drugs, political
prisoners and our over-all lack of compassion for every living thing.
Closer to home each of us has our own struggles with growing up.
There
is a lot packed into our teen-aged years. We go from childhood into
a time when hormones start to take control. It all seems to happen
so fast. We are changing physically and emotionally. We are taking
on much more responsibility at home and dealing with the heavy load
of school work, peer group pressure and the continual question,
What are you going to do with your life? We are trying to
set a good example for younger brothers and sisters, choosing a
career and the millions of other things on our minds that really
has nothing to do with our relationship with Mother Earth.
With
so much going on it is quite a relief to think that our elected
officials are going to take care of all of those minor and major
planetary concerns while we concentrate on growing-up. ItÕs obvious
now that not only are those people not supervising the care of our
home as we trusted, but we, the peoples of the world, have and still
are perpetuating this planetary destruction.
Now,
as I look ahead at my so-called future IÕm amazed at how
the Earth is letting us know in so many ways that there has been
a gross injustice by mankind. The many recent devastating floods,
landslides and dramatic weather changes shows the EarthÕs pain and
how out of balance our eco-system has become. By polluting the water
we drink and swim in, the air we breathe, we have altered the earthÕs
atmosphere itself. We are now in a time of global emergency.
There
are solutions to these problems, but all of them still will take
conscious effort by every human being to eliminate the things that
are leading us to impending disaster.
